DALE, only a few short weeks ago respected and trusted, with friends by the hundred, a loving wife and helpless infant depending on him for all that makes life worth the living, lies today in a suicide's grave, disgraced, his friends and family heartbroken. DALE was married to an estimable woman only a little over a year ago and as a result of the union a baby was born about a month ago. Since the arrival of the little stranger, DALE, so it is said, has been drinking heavily. He arrived in Vegas last week and while here continued his carousal. His money being gone, DALE borrowed $10 from J. W. HORDEN of the Las Vegas hotel on Monday. Tuesday morning he induced Mr. HORDEN to endorse a check for $100 drawn on the First National bank of Rhyolite, with the understanding that he would return the $10 borrowed upon cashing the check. He secured the money on his check and took the train at once for the north, leaving word that he was called suddenly to Salt Lake City, and failing to leave the $10 as agreed. A wire to Rhyolite disclosed the fact that DALE had no money there to meet the check. Mr. HORDEN immediately placed the matter in the hands of the officials and DALE was arrested at Caliente by Deputy Sheriff John TRIMBLE. Dale induced TRIMBLE to spare him the disgrace of the jail and made arrangements to stay that night with the officer at his home. Waking up about six o'clock next morning, DALE remarked to TRIMBLE that he had a sore throat and would take some medicine for it. Reaching into his pocket he produced a small vial, raised it to his lips and drained the contents. Then he said good bye and within two or three minutes was dead. The deceased has been for some time superintendent of the Pahrump ranch. He formerly lived in Denver, where the DALE family is well known. He leaves a brother, Frank DALE, living in Pasadena, Cal.
