He was born to Rees William Davis and Chloe Burbank Williams June 20, 1919, in Salt Lake City. Richard graduated from Box Elder High School in 1937 and graduated from the University of Utah in 1944 with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a Navy officer in World War II and later worked as an engineer on the Nautilus prototype, the nuclear rocket project the Trident missile and the MX missile. Richard was married for 55 years to Gloria Call. He is survived by his wife, Nell Foster Davis; brother, David R. Davis of Yukon Territories, Canada; and children, Richard William Davis Jr. of Marysville, Wash., Susan Lewis, Marcia Sampson and Kathryn Wilkinson, all of Las Vegas, Melissa Jane McMurray of Atascadero, Calif. and Rebecca Ann Hadley of Woodland, Calif. He has 28 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 23, at the Latter-day Saints Church on Hollywood and Steward. A graveside ceremony will be held at noon Saturday, April 24, at the Brigham City Cemetery, Brigham City, Utah. Arrangements have been handled by Bunkers Mortuary.
