DOHERTY, aged 43 years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of C. P. SQUIRES. For a day or two Frank had not been feeling entirely well, but was about business as usual. About 8 o'clock in the evening he bid goodbye to a party of Vegas people who were just leaving for home after which he spent a little time with Goodsprings friends, conversing with Judge SPRINGER until about 9:30, when he went home and went to bed. He was alone in the house, Mrs. DOHERTY with the children being in Las Vegas at the home of her parents, where her little daughter Alice had been sick with the measles, although just recovered. It was to be a day of happiness for all. Frank expecting to come after them and take them home with him Sunday. But some time during the dark watches of the night he arose from the bed, took a step and fell dead without a struggle. In the morning the messenger with a telegram received no response to his knocks. He informed Judge SPRINGER, who went to the house, entered and found his friend on the floor as though peacefully sleeping, still in death. A stroke of apoplexy had done its work. It is with a heavy heart that we chronicle the passing of one so near and dear to use as Frank DOHERTY. In the strength and vigor of a true and tried manhood, the messenger of death came to him without warning and without waiting. Our daughter, Florence, is stunned and dazed at the blow which has fallen upon her and we can only thank the Heavenly Father for the three beautiful children left with her as her consolation. Those nearest to him surviving are his widow, Florence DOHERTY, his daughter, Alice, aged 3-1/2 years; John, aged 2 years and 3 months, and Charles, aged 4 months; also his mother, Mrs. M. E. DOHERTY, and a brother, Fred H. residing in Chicago, and his brother, Harry, residing in Topeka, Kansas. We will endeavor to write a more extended account of the matter, which we are unable to do at this time, for next week's issue. ====== LAS VEGAS AGE 3/3/1917 DEATH OF FRANK A. DOHERTY Last week we briefly announced the death of Frank A. DOHERTY, editor of the Goodsprings Gazette, and one of the best known men of Clark County. It appears that Mr. DOHERTY had not been feeling as well as usual for two or three weeks, but went about his business with his usual vigor, making little complaiant. Thursday preceding his death he visited Dr. MC GARVEY and then learned for the first time that his heart was seriously affected, but took none into his confidence. He appeared to be in excellent health and spirits Saturday evening and retired about 9:30. In the morning, when he failed to appear as usual, his friend and associate, Judge SPRINGER went to the house, entered and found him dead on the floor near the bed from which he had arisen.
