DOTY RITES HELD AT GRAVESIDE

 

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery for Grace K. Doty, 

81, a pioneer resident of Glendale and Moapa, who died Sunday.

    Mrs. Doty homesteaded in the upper Moapa Valley with her husband, Guy, 

after arriving in a horse and buckboard from San Diego, Calif. in 1914.

    In 1924, Doty built the first gasoline service station at Glendale on the 

old Spanish Trail from the Rocky Mountains to California and furnished fuel to 

area farmers.

    Doty also helped construct the first sidewalks in Las Vegas and owned the 

Moapa Valley Power and Light Company before Boulder Dam was built.  He died in 

1960.
