Howard S. Garvin, 86, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 19, 2005. He was born Nov. 
23, 1918, in Hastings, Neb. and moved to the Las Vegas Valley with his family 
in the 1950's. He was a member of the Operating Engineers. Howard is survived 
by his daughter-in-law, Billi; granddaughter, Jerri; grandson, Mark; two great-
grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kohler, all of Las Vegas; and siblings, Paul 
Garvin of Washington, Rogene Stryker of New Mexico, Richard Garvin and Sandra 
Faunch both of Alaska. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, 
Arlene, and son James Jay Garvin, both of Las Vegas. Graveside services will be 
held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 at Palm Memorial Park, 1325 N. Main 
Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's favorite 
charity.
