The deceased was a sister of Helen HOLMES [illegible]....and was herself engaged in picture work until recently. She was one of a family of ten children, the father and eight of whom were victims before her of tuberculosis. She had recently felt the beginning of lung trouble, and when the motion picutre industry of Los Angeles was brought nearly to a standstill by the influenza epidemic, she decided to try the effect of the dry climate of Las Vegas. She had an interest in a ranch near Milford, Utah, for which she was paying in installments, and being of an independent character, she secured a position at the railway eating house in order to be able to meet her share of the payments. Here she became ill with influenza about 12 days before her death, and frail as she was, death quickly claimed her when pneumonia developed. Her sister Helen was wired of her illness, but the messages failed of prompt delivery and Helen did not reach here until Wednesday morning after Florence's death. She returned to Los Angeles with the remains, leaving here Thursday morning. Helen HOLMES, it will be remembered, spent portions of several winters in Las Vegas, with her husband John P. MC GOWAN, producing "The Girl and the Game," and othe feature pictures. They have many friends here who express deep sympathy in this very sad bereavement.
