DAN SHIELDS KILLED BY FALL IN ORE CHUTE



    Dan SHIELDS, who was a resident of Las Vegas until about two weeks ago,

was killed yesterday at the Yellow Pine Mine in Goodsprings where he was

employed.

    In some manner he missed his footing and plunged head foremost down the

chute, receiving a basal fracture of the skull and other injuries from which

he died at 6:10 last evening.  Following the accident, Dr. C. E. BULETTE was

called from this city, but found the injured man beyond aid.

    Mrs. SHIELDS, who still resides here, was notified that her husband had

been injured and was at the train to meet him at 8:00 last  night, when she

received a message announcing his death.

    The remains were brought to Las Vegas, by Arthur FAYLE and N. B. PRICE

in an automobile last night.  The funeral occurred here this afternoon.
