SCHAEFLE, aged 27 years, died at the Barlow Sanatorium in Hollywood at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday as the result of influenza, which he contracted while in France. He enlisted with the Grizzlies as a private first class in Battery D, One Hundred and Forty-fourth Field Artillery, United States Army, from which he received an honorable discharge on his return from France, January 26. Mr. SCHAEFLE leaves a widowed mother, Mrs. Mary C. SCHAEFLE of 815 West Thirty-fourth street, Los Angeles; a brother, William J. SCHAEFLE of Los Angeles; three sisters, Mrs. J. M. HEATON, Mrs. W. N. SCHUYLER of Las Vegas, Nev. and Mrs. Mabel HITTE of Lancaster, and an uncle, Rev. J. M. SCHAEFLE, pastor of the Rice Heights Congregational Church. Funeral services will be conducted in the Forest Lawn Chapel, Saturday at 2 p.m. Returned soldiers and friends of the deceased are expected to be pall bearers. - L. A. Times.
