SENATOR GRIFFITH's MOTHER DIES



AGED LADY LIVES ACTIVE LIFE UNTIL RECENT ILLNESS OVERTAKES HER.



    A telegram was received by The Age last Saturday night announcing the

death in Pasadena of Senator GRIFFITH's aged mother, Mrs. Jane GRIFFITH, who

would have been 101 years old had she lived until the 17th of March.  Mrs.

GRIFFITH was born in Quebec, Canada, in 1820, and came to this country with

her husband, the late Robert J. GRIFFITH, many years ago.  She has been

quite active until within the last few months.  Her one hundredth birthday

anniversary was the occasion of an elaborate celebration at this time last

year.
