MARY'S CHURCH, L. A. Saturday morning at eight o'clock Requiem High Mass was sung by Rev. Father SHEEHY at the Chapel of St. Joan of Arc for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Harley HARMON. At the service at four o'clock on Saturday afternoon the chancel of the Chapel was filled with the beautiful floral offerings from sympathizing friends. The hymns of the Catholic ritual were beautifully rendered by a large choir and during the service Mrs. Cyril WENGERT and Miss PRIDDY sang "Lead Kindly Light" after which "Holy God We Praise Thy Name" was rendered by Mr. KELLY on the violin. Father SHEEHY delivered a very comforting sermon dwelling on the certainty of death and the uncertainty of life. He spoke of the great need of charity and tolerance toward all men. He said in part: "Mrs. HARMON had truly led a Christian life and had done her duty as a faithful wife, loving daughter and devoted mother. She was the type of womanhood this great country needs for the future. I beg of those upon whom shoulders God has placed this heavy cross not to languish in fruitless and unavailing tears like those who have no hope but to bear this sorrow with Christian fortitude and resignation consoled by the thought that she was prepared to meet her God." Judge W. E. ORR, W. E. HAWKINS, Ed. W. CLARK, F. A. STEVENS, A. N. DOAK, Francis DeVINNEY acted as pall bearers and twenty women, members of various organizations with which the deceased was connected walked by the side of the hearse to the depot. At St. Mary's Church on the Heights, Los Angeles, in the rpesence of many sorrowing friends and relatives, the last sad tribute of affection was paid to the memory of Leona HARMON Monday afternoon at three o'clock. A wealth of floral beauty surrounded the casket as the impressive and beautiful rites of the Church were performed by Rev. Fr. O'REGAN, on the spot where Leona McGOVERN, just passing from a beautiful girlhood to the summit of happiness was united in marriage to Harley A. HARMON September 11, 1911. As the tolling of the sweet voiced bell echoed in many hearts filled with grief at the closing of this useful and happy life, the fragrance of the incense wreathed the memories which will always live, of Leona's loving and happy life as a daughter, a wife, a mother and a kindly friend. In a spot of green on a rising knoll in Calvary Cemetery, surrounded by rolling hills and guarded by the majestic mountains, the body was laid for its long rest. After Father O'REGAN had spoken the last rites of the Church, Rainbow Division No. 345, G. I. A. to B, of L. E., of Las Vegas, of which the deceased was an active member, peformed the beautiful burial rites of that order. Mrs. NUNGESSER, Mrs. BYERS, Mrs. SHEPPARD, Mrs. OWEN and Mrs. BROCKMAN, all intimate friends and neighbors, carried out the services in an impressive manner, while the sorrowing throng stood near with bowed heads. Then, covered with beautiful flowers, we left her to her sleep. Those who acted as pall bearers were: W. A. ROGERS, formerly master mechanic at Las Vegas; Fred SEYMOUR, Harry BYERS, W. R. BRACKEN, Judge Wm. E. ORR and Chas. Lee HORSEY, formerly Judge of the district court at Las Vegas. The attendance at the services were large, a great proporation of those present being residents of Las Vegas or former reisdents of this city. Mr. HARMON and the children will remain for a week or more at the home of his mother, Mrs. W. A. STUDNICA. Mr. and Mrs. McGOVERN reutrned to their home Friday morning.
