HARMON PASSES AFTER SEVERE ILLNESS WIFE OF PROMINENT ATTORNEY IS CALLED SUDDENLY BY DEATH FROM THROAT INFECTION Our community was both shocked and saddened yesterday by the news of the passing of Mrs. Harley A. HARMON. She had been ill for a month and as she did not seem to be improving she was moved to the Las Vegas Hospital last week where Dr. F. R. MILDERN made an examination and found her to be suffering with a very serious and rare throat infection. She had steadily improved under his care and had expected to be removed to her home the coming week. Thursday evening she suddenly became worse and quietly passed into her long, dreamless sleep. Her death was caused from nerve exhaustion and despondency due to her long illness. "Leona" as she was affectionately called by her many friends was the only living child of Mr. and Mrs. McGOVERN, their other daughter having died in Los Angeles just before the family moved to Las Vegas twelve years ago. She was born in Truckee, California, October 3rd, 1892, and passed her school-days in Los Angeles, arriving here just as she was blossoming into beautiful young womahood. Here she met Harley A. HARMON to whom she was married on September 11th, 1911, at St. Mary's on the Heights, in Los Angeles. Two sons came to bless their union - Charles, born October 4th, 1913 and Emmett, born November 21st, 1918. She was of sweet and retiring disposition, loyal and true to her friends and always ready to aid in any worthy cause. She was a prominent member of the auxillary of the B. of L. E. and of the Mesquite Club, and various other organizations. She was devoted to her home, her husband, little sons and parents. To those stricken ones the deep sympathy of the community is extended. May He who shares our sorrows support and comfort them. The remains, covered with beautiful flowers, will lie in state today at the church of St. Joan of Arc of which she was a devout member. Mass was said this morning, and a short service will be held this afternoon at four o'clock after which all that was mortal of this, our friend and neighbor, will be taken to Los Angeles for interment.
