DEATH CLAIMS MOTHER OF MRS. R. H. BAY



    Mrs. Ruth Jane HAGANS, mother of Mrs. R. H. BAY, died at the home of her

daughter at 12:00 o'clock noon Monday, July 9, death being caused by an

accident and a subsequent attack of appoplexy.

    On Monday, June 11, Mrs. HAGANS fell and suffered a broken hip.  The

inujury was known to be serious, but there was no thought that it would be

fatal.  She was slowly recovering from her accident and was believed to be

out of danger, when she was seized by a stroke of apoplexy.  The severeness

of the attack, added to an already weakened condition was more than her

constitution could withstand, and at noon Monday she passed away.

    Funeral services were held at the W. I. ROBERTS chapel Tuesday afternoon

and interment was in Woodlawn cemetery.



Ruth Jane STRATTON was born in Sullivan, Illinois September 21, 1841, and 

died at Las Vegas, Nevada July 9, 1923, being aged 81 years, 9 months, 18 

days at the time of her death.  Her childhood days were spent in Sullivan, 

Illinois.  When 13 years old, she moved with her parents to Des Moines, 

Iowa, and there on September 1, 1870, was married to Charles HAGANS.  To 

this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter, only the 

daughter, Mrs. BAY, being now living.  Some years later she moved with her 

family to Lincoln, Nebraska, where Mr. HAGANS preceded her to the Great 

Beyond in 1892.  After the death of her husband she made her home with her 

daughter, coming to Las Vegas with Mrs. BAY in April, 1922.  She is survived 

by one other relative, a grandson, C. Ronald GIBSON.
