Gobeli, 68, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Dr. Virginia C. Gobeli of Cranston, R.I. Born in Las Vegas, a son of the late Frederick and Eunice (Jorgensen) Gobeli. Mr. Gobeli was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving with the 1331 combat engineers as a unit commandeer. He was an engineering technician for 24 years, working for the J.H. Kleinfelder Co., of Reno, and companies in Nebraska and Maryland, before suffering a heart attack in 1994. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Gregory Gobeli of Cranston; daughter, Gayla Weinert of Centennial, Colo.; granddaughter, Lily Weinert; and two sisters, Georgia Stevens of Ruth, Nev., and Gloria "Ricky" Koontz of Eado, Tenn. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2. His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, both at Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt. 44), Greenville, RI 02828, (401) 949-1370. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veteran Cemetery, in Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904, will be appreciated.
