From a bank book in his pocket his name was found to be Stanley GUDELL. He was a Servian by birth and had been employed in the fishing business at San Pedro. Coroner HARKINS held an inquest Monday with Fred G. PARK, foreman, G. H. FRENCH, I. C. JOHNSON, H. L. THOMAS, Mort S. RIESER and M. MALONEY as jurors. The investigation developed the fact that the deceased came to his death by falling from the second section of train 82 the day he was found. He had been beating his way, riding on the first section of 82, but had been warned away from that train by the crew. It appears that he had boarded the train following. At the place where he was found, the track crosses a small arroyo. The unfortunate man probably attempted to get off the train but failed to notice the approach to the bridge. The marks where his feet struck the ground are plainly seen, but the man went head first down the bank, the sharp rocks mangling his head and face and the force of the fall breaking some of the bones of the spine. That the dead man was not the victim of robbers is proven by the fact that $38.60 was found in his pockets. The verdict of the coroner's jury was in acordance with the facts as stated above. The body of the deceased was interred in the city cemetery by Wm. B. LEONARD, the undertaker.
