His son, Scott Haupt of Montrose, Colo.; his mother, Janice Allen; his father, Ernest Haupt; and his brother, Gary L. Haupt, all of Las Vegas, survive him. His stepfather, Fred B. Allen also survives him. Craig was an avid motorcycle enthusiast beginning in the 1960's when he raced motorcross in Nevada and California, and eventually earning numerous trophies throughout the 1970's. Craig was a longtime Las Vegas Hilton employee. While previously working at the Union Plaza, he apprehended a gun-toting man holding up an elderly woman. Craig ran after the man for over a miles before capturing him. On Jan. 23, 1984, Sheriff John Moran presented a certificate of appreciation to Craig for his bravery, proclaiming Craig to be a credit to the community and integral in apprehending the subject. Channel 3 also awarded Craig the Citizen of the Week award. This is not the only time in Craig's life when he came to the assistance of those in need. Craig was a loving son, father and friend who will be forever loved and missed by those who knew him. Services will be held privately. Palm Mortuary-Eastern handled the arrangements.
