The body was discovered where it had been dumped from a wagon, Monday, with the head beaten to a pulp. Two Indians named Bruce and Ash Meadows John were arrested for the crime and taken to Rhyolite by the sheriff of Nye county. A drunken squaw and a little Indian girl were the only witnesses of the crime. The girl on being questioned gave the following brief but concise version of the affair. "Bruce and Ash Meadows John and Henry squaw, all drunk, in rig, going Pahrump to Manse. Met Henry coming Pahrump from Manse. Had quarrel and Bruce and John beat Henry to death." It is thought there is little chance to secure a conviction as the Indians became very reticent when asked to testify against one of their number. The dead Indian was formerly head irrigator at the Pahrump ranch and all concerned have hitherto bourne a good reputation.
