The circumstances attending the death of the young man were unusual. He had been troubled with a swelling of the throat for some time which occasioned him considerable pain. He spent considerable time in the railroad hospital in Los Angeles without obtaining any relief and after, returning to Vegas arranged, with Drs. CLARK and MARTIN to be operated upon Friday morning. He was in good spirits Thursday night and after spending a portion of the evening about town went to the hospital and went to bed. The nurse in charge making the rounds looked into the room at midnight and again at 1:00 and at 4:00 a.m. and found the patient peacefully sleeping. At five o'clock she again visited the room and found the young man dead. The swelling had broken while he was sleeping and he had choked to death without waking. The deceased was a nephew of Mrs. TATE and Mrs. Roy GOODWIN, of this city. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon, Rev. E. A. PALMER officiating.
