Hetland, 84, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 16, 2011. He has rejoined Donna, his wife of 61 years in time to celebrate their anniversary Feb. 19th. The family moved to Las Vegas in 1961. Myron worked as a heavy duty mechanic for Wells Stewart until the early '70's when he formed his own construction company with his son. Born in Comanche, Mont., he grew up in Billings, Mont., until he joined in the U.S. Army in 1945-46, serving in Japan. Upon returning, he met and married the love of his life. During the 1950's he worked with natural gas pipeline crews in the lower 48 states keeping the machinery running, which afforded his family the opportunity to see our great country. After a particularly cold winter in Minnesota, they moved south, settling in Las Vegas, where he enjoyed the sun and warm weather the rest of his life. Myron was proud of being a Master Mason since 1949. Locally, he was a member of the Vegas Lodge #32, Las Vegas Scottish Rite and the Legion of Honor of the Zelzah Shrine Temple (serving as the LOH Commander in 1987). He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. (Elks) since 1956 and Operating Engineers Local #12 from 1962 until he retired. Myron is survived by his three children, Linda, Rodger and Shelley; six grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew him. May God bless his soul. Viewing will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., with services at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, NV.
