He leaves surviving him a sister, Miss Nora HICKEY. The funeral services were held at the undertaking parlors at 1031 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Requiem mass was celebrated at St. Vincent's church at 9:30. Interment was in Calvary cemetery. Mr. HICKEY left Vegas something over a year ago in the hope of regaining his shattered health, but in vain. For months his condition has been considered hopeless and his demise comes as no surprise to his acquaintances. "Dan," as he was familiarly called here, was possessed of many admirable qualities and he leaves many friends who sincerely regret his sad ending. His latter years were unfortunately, full of trouble and distress and his weary spirit doubtless welcomes the peace and quiet of "That undiscovered country from whose bourne no traveler returns." Daniel D. HICKEY was born in the County of Cork, Ireland, in the year 1867 and came to America in the early eighties. He first lived in New York then Omaha {illegible} ....ver, where he was married March 17, 1897. He settled in Las Vegas in May, 1905, and almost at once started in business, opening a hotel in the Jacobs building on Main street near the site of the present Lincoln hotel. He built the Lincoln hotel about the year 1911. Mrs. Margaret HICKEY, his wife, died in Los Angeles March 8, 1915. Mr. HICKEY's only surviving relative, so far as is known, is his sister, Nora E. HICKEY, to whom he deeded all his real estate and personal property before his death.
