Hicks, pioneer Las Vegas hotel builder and owner, who died Sunday in LaJolla, California. Hicks, a principal owner of the Thunderbird hotel and the adjacent Algiers Hotel succembed of cancer at Scripps Clinic at the age of 57. Following services Hicks body will be interred in Palm Mausoleum. He is survived by [omitted] Besides the Thunderbird and Algiers hotels, Hicks also built the El Cortez Hotel, at 6th and Fremonth Sts., which he later sold. Honorary pall-bearers: John Grayson, Paul Wagnner, Jack Lane, Joe Wells, E. J. Questa, Harry Manente, Clifford Jones, Victory Sayre, William Deer, Lee Deer, James Schuyler, Chuck Man. Pall bearers, John Harvey, Jack Walsh, Ralph Scout, James Bilbray, Joseph Alexa and Sam Boyd. A spokesman Tuesday said friends of the deceased, if they prefer, can donate to the cancer research fund rather than send flowers.
