The sad news of the sudden death of Engineer John M. HENDERSON has = reached the city. Mr. HENDERSON was killed while on a freight engine = going up Cajon Pass on Tuesday. He was the engineer on Eugene 2712, and = it was in to have been his last trip. How the accident happened is not = exactly known, but it is presumed that he stuck his head out of the cab = window, being nearer a bridge than he thought, and was knocked to his = death, as the body was found near the track when the search was made. Mr. HENDERSON was a well-known engineer on the old Salt Lake and had = many friends in this city. He also had a brother in this city who is in = the train service. This seems to have been fate. Mr. HENDERSON was on his last trip and = was going to quit the road and retire to private life. He was asked to = make a helper trip to Victorville, which he started to do, when he met = his death.
