      James "Jim" Mathis, 76, died Tuesday. 
      He was born April 17, 1923, in Salem, Ill. A Navy veteran of World War 
II, 
he was a retired real estate agent, a 32-year resident of Las Vegas and a 
member of the Jazz Society. 
      He is survived by his wife, Katie of Las Vegas; sons, Steven of 
Puentarenas, Costa Rica, Michael of Las Vegas and David of Henderson; sister, 
Zuanda Morgan of San Diego; and three grandchildren. 
      The family requests memorial donations be made to Odyssey Hospice. Palm 
Mortuary-Eastern handled arrangements.
