He was 75. He was born Feb. 22, 1912, in Nephi, Utah, and was a 63 year resident of Las Vegas. Jarrett was a member of the first graduating class of Las Vegas High School, where he was a football and basketball star in the late 1920s. After graduating, he worked for the Nevada Highway Department and helped survey the Strip, said his wife, Pat, of Las Vegas. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Air Force. In 1951, he started working as a dealer at the Last Frontier. He held a number of jobs at various Strip casinos before retiring in 1977, after serving as assistant casino manager at the Tropicana Hotel. While he was a dealer, his customers included Bugsy Siegel, Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner, his wife said. He is also survived by his sons, H. Gregory of Las Vegas and Kevin of Susanville, Calif.; daughter, Shelia Leavitt of Phoenix; brothers LaVell and Rex, both of Las Vegas; sister Erma Bruce of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Saturday in Bunker Mortuary. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
