The deceased was born at St. Albans, Vermont, and spent the latter portion of his life in the west, coming to Las vegas from Flagstaff, Arizona, in 1905. In this city he was engaged in the timber business and as a building contractor, in which latter capacity he constructed the Las Vegas grammar school building. In Arizona he constructed the Navajo county court house, the Coconino county court house and the Northern Arizona normal school. During his residence in this city he was ever active in civic affairs. The funeral services were held at the family residence on First street Wednesday afternoon. After a prayer and address by Rev. Henry ROISSY and appropriate music by the choir, Vegas Lodge No. 32, F. & A.M. of which deceased was a member, took charge of the remains and carried out the funeral ceremonies of the Masonic order at the house and at the Las Vegas cemetery where the interment took place. The funeral was largely attended and the floral offerings profuse, among the latter being floral pieces from Vegas Lodge F. & A.M. and from the Elks' Lodge at Flagstaff of which deceased was a member. Those who are left surviving are his widow and one daughter, Ione; two brothers, Clyde JURDEN of Kirkwood, Mo., and Albert JURDEN of Los Angeles and two sisters, Mrs. P. T. REYNOLDS of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Will HARTZELL of Los Angeles. Two sons of Mr. and Mrs. JURDEN died in their youth. We extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing relatives in their great affliction.
