Knall, the Las Vegas area's latest murder victim, will be buried this afternoon in Woodlawn Cemetery following funeral services at 2 p.m. graveside. American Legion Post No. 8 will officiate, according to Sunset Funeral Chapel, which is handling arrangements. Two minor children are being sought as survivors. Knall's animal-ravaged body, largely decomposed by being in the desert at least two weeks after the murder was discovered Sunday, Dec. 4, when a dog named "Duke" owned by [omitted] brought home a shoe containing part of the victim's foot. The man, an ex-felon who had mentioned being a member of Detroit's notorious Purple Gang during the prohibition era, worked most recently for Nevada Sun Rancho, located about two miles from where his body was found. He also had been a taxi driver and bartender in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. Knall was shot in the head with a .22-cal. pistol. He was veteran of World War II, and [omitted] , Nevada veterans service commissioner, and U. S. Veterans Administration officials are trying to find the whereabouts of the two minor children, his only known survivors. Clark County Sheriff's deputies meanwhile are working on several leads in the puzzling murder and at last report were optimistic about the possibilities in one of them, though of course, they declined to reveal what it was.
