MINER FALLS TO DEATH IN THE GROOM MINE

    John KOCIAS, an Italian, aged about 40, while being lowered in the 
shaft at the Groom mine, fell from the cross-head to the bottom of the 
shaft and was instantly killed, Friday, September 7, at 1:30 p.m.
    It is probable that the man became frightened while being lowered 
and grasping for the ladder, failed to hold on.
    KOCIAS had been employed about three months at the Groom mine.
