Last Sunday the condition of the stricken man became such that friends brought him from Goodsprings to Las Vegas hospital in the hope that he might be benefitted, but he did not seem to improve any, and Monday afternoon the end came. Goodsprings friends of the deceased were notified and arrangements were made to hold funeral rites Tuesday, but a postponement was necessary, and the services were held Wednesday. The services at the Roberts chapel were conducted by Rev. Leo C. KILNE and Chaplain ROSS, the latter a Spanish-American war veteran, and the service was very impressive. Chaplain ROSS delivered a fitting tribute to the character of the deceased, and Mrs. J. Warren WOODARD sang two simple hymns that concluded the service at the chapel. The casket was draped with the colors, and there was a profusion of floral offerings. The pallbearers were all from Goodsprings and were: Henry G. KENNEDY; Jack FALVEY, William EVANS, Bert FRIES, Samuel MC CLANAHAN and Fred PIEHL. At Woodlawn cemetery the deceased was laid to rest with full military honors by members of Woodruff Perkins Post 958; Veterans of Foreign Wars, as their last tribute to their departed comrade, who had served with honor in the Spanish-American war. The services here were conducted in accordance with the full ritual of the organization. The firing squad was composed of Francis DALY, Lauren WEST, A. T. MC CARTER, Joe LA VERA, Roy VAUGHN, William JOLLY and Earl ROCKWELL. A large number of friends and acquainances came up from Goodsprings to attend the funeral.
