Laux, 79, a longtime resident of Las Vegas will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Palm Chapel. He died Thursday in a local hospital as a result of injuries received in an auto accident Wednesday. The Boulder City Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons 37 will officiate at services and entombment will be in Palm Mausoleum. Laux was born Sept. 26, 1896 at Phillip, Wis. He moved to Las Vegas in 1931 to work as an electrician for Six Companies Inc. on the construction of Boulder Dam. In 1935 he signed with Boulder Canyon Project and was employed as electrician foreman and electrician until retirement in 1961. He founded Electricians Union Local 357 with nine other men in 1931. He held every office in the local and served the longest in financial secretary and president. Laux served as vice-president and was a member of the executive board of the Clark County Central Labor Council and secretary-treasurer of the Nevada State Federation for two years. He served as commander of the Boulder City American Legion 31 and was a member of the F and AM Boulder City Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Grace Nay and a brother, Eugene V. of Elmwood, Ill. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Diabetic Association.
