LEON had been drinking in the saloon according to the evidence at the coroner's inquest made a move to help himself to luncheon which WASHINGTON was eating. This led to some words and the Mexican was twice put out of the saloon, each time going back in to renew the argument. The last time it appears that LEON was put out by Robert RILLEY, a shop employee and the second time by Chas. APLIN, a painter. As he attempted to enter the saloon the last time, WASHINGTON, who was behind the gate at the end of the bar, pulled his gun and fired, the Mexican falling in the doorway. It is claimed that the negro was not drunk at the time but in full possession of his senses, while the Mexican was considerably intoxicated. The coroner's inquest held before Judge LILLIS Tuesday brought in a verdict that deceased came to his death at the hands of WASHINGTON, but did not attempt to decide the question as to whether he was justified in killing the Mexican. The preliminary hearing will be held next Tuesday before Judge LILLIS.
