From the time he was a child he always talked and though "railroad." Seventeen years ago he went to British Columbia, and there he entered the service of the C.P.R. Later he went to Oregon, with the Oregon Short Line. For the past six years he has been with the Salt Lake Line, as conductor, with headquarters at Las Vegas, Nevada. Last May he became ill, and was taken to a hospital in Los Angeles, California. He recovered somewhat, and returned to his home in Las Vegas. He never fully recovered, and four weeks ago he grew rapidly worse, and was removed to the hospital in Los Angeles, where he passed away on Friday, October 6th, 1914. His remains were brought to Port Dover by his widow and brother, John. Interment took place at the Port Dover Cemetery, on Thursday, October t wenty-second, under the direction of the Norfolk Lodge, No. 225, I.O.O.F. In addition to his widow, the deceased leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Long, three sisters and severn brothers.
