Marshall. Edward G. Marshall, a former Clark County District Attorney, passed away April 13, 2013. Born Oct. 13, 1930, in Salt Lake City, to George E. Marshall and Frances Gibbs Marshall, he was raised in Las Vegas and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1948. He attended Brigham Young University and served a two-and-half-year LDS mission in Montevideo, Uruguay. Marshall married Luana Rushton in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Sept. 14, 1953, attended the University of Utah Law School, and graduated in 1957. He was then commissioned as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army and served as a reservist for eight years, after which he sought a transfer to the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for 12 years, retiring as a major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Marshall began practicing in Nevada in 1958 and was elected as Clark County District Attorney in 1962. During the four years that he served as district attorney, he personally prosecuted 10 homicide cases. In a generation where most of the deputy district attorneys were allowed to work part-time and build a law practice of their own, Marshall employed numerous deputies who would eventually hold public office and became recognized public servants in Nevada. He was an active member of the State Bar of Nevada for 54 years. Marshall is survived by seven children, Victoria Deaver, Ward Marshall, Patricia Lewis, George Marshall, Robert Marshall, Edward Marshall and Frances Marshall; 26 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 19, at the LDS Chapel, 10550 Alta Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89135. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the services. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Las Vegas. The Marshall family extends its sincere appreciation to all who have been so thoughtful at this time.
