DIED

MC GOWN:  In this city, August 4, 1913, John J. MC GOWN, aged 73 years. 
The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon and interment was had 
at the Las Vegas cemetery.
    "Harry" MC GOWN, as he was known to most of his acquaintances here, 
was a kindly, great hearted man with a host of warm friends among those 
who knew him best.  He came here from Delamar, Nev., arriving just eight 
years to a day before the date of his burial.  He had known, in his 
earlier days, a life of luxury and brightness, but in his latter years 
liked best the solitudes of the desert, where he spent much of his time 
in prospecting for the precious metals.  His last illness was a long and 
trying one, but he bore his suffering with fortitude and accepted 
without repining the call which he knew was soon to come for him.
