The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city, Friday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. J. L. COLLINS officiating. The remains were interred in the City cemetery. The funeral was attended by many friends of the deceased and there were many beautiful floral offerings. Mr. COLLINS his address paid an eloquent tribute to the beauty of character of "Grandma MC GRIFF," and her long and faithful service in the church. ---------- Mrs. Lavina MC GRIFF, or "Grandma MC GRIFF," as we all so lovingly called her, was born in Franklin county, Ohio, February 2, 1839, and was therefore 78 years and five months old when she fell asleep. She quite early in life joined the Methodist church, of which she remained a member up to the time of her death. She has always been identified with Sunday school work, either as a superintendent or teacher. She has lived here in Las Vegas about five years, and considered this her home. Her life here was made especially comfortable and happy by her devoted son, E. G. MC GRIFF and his faithful wife, who were tireless in their efforts for her comfort. She leaves behind two sons in Iowa, one daughter in Idaho and one son here. It is very gratifying to them, especially to the son and his wife, the peaceful manner in which she fell asleep. ------ "Grandma MC GRIFF," the sweet, and kindly soul, will be greatly missed. Yet she has lived far beyond the allotted three score years and ten, ever useful and helpful. To but few it is permitted to live a life so full of good deeds and so tireless in service to those she loved. When finally called by the Master in the midst of her activities, she fell peacefully asleep and none would call her back. Her's was a beautiful life, and her passing to the glories of Eternal Life as quiet and peaceful as a summer sunrise.
