CONDUCTOR MURDERED BY INSANE PASSENGER

Frank Morton Killed; Harry Barringer Seriously inuured on Train near 
Barstow

Frank Morton, conductor, who left here last night in charge of train No. 
25, and Harry Barringer, head brake man, were shot this morning as the 
train neared Barstow.

According to reports which are somewhat conflicting at this time, Morton 
was instantly killed and Barringer seriously wounded.

The shooting is said to have been done by a passenger who apparently 
was insane.  Several, it is said, had narrow escapes from the bullets of the killer.

Conductor Morton but recently bid in the Las Vegas-Los Angeles run.  He 
is held in high regard by all those who know him.
