According to reports which are somewhat conflicting at this time, Morton was instantly killed and Barringer seriously wounded. The shooting is said to have been done by a passenger who apparently was insane. Several, it is said, had narrow escapes from the bullets of the killer. Conductor Morton but recently bid in the Las Vegas-Los Angeles run. He is held in high regard by all those who know him.
