Mrs. Ellen M. ODDIE, mother of Governor ODDIE, died shortly before eleven o'clock last night at the mansion. She had been critically ill for two days. Clarence M. ODDIE, wife and children, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. SIEBERT and children, Miss Sarah ODDIE and Miss Grace ODDIE were at the bed side. Mrs. ODDIE was 73 years old and when her son was elected governor she became the hostess at the executive mansion. She was universally beloved. The funeral will be held at three thirty Sunday afternoon from the mansion. The Episcopal service will be followed the Remains will be interred at Carson. C. P. Squires LAS VEGAS AGE 4/25/1914 FUNERAL OF MRS. ODDIE The Body of Mrs. Ellen ODDIE, mother of the governor of Nevada, was laid to rest in the Carson cemetery Sunday afternoon. The services at the mansion were simple and impressive, and were conducted by the Rev. TTHOMAS of the Episcopal church, while the service at the grave was read by Rev. UNSWORTH of Reno. Justices TALBOT, MC CARRAN and NORCROSS of the state supreme court, Judge E. S. FARRINGTON of the United States federal court, Ed. YERRINGTON and George T. MILLS served as pall bearers. Mrs. ODDIE was a native of Maryland. Her married life was spent in East Orange, New Jersey, where her children were born, all of whom were with her at the end. In 1902 she came to Nevada to make her home with her son T. L. ODDIE who was then living in Tonopah. When he was called to highest office in the state she became the much beloved mistress of the executive mansion. She possessed rare qualities of mind and heart, kindness, gentleness-such sympathatic consideration for the feelings of others that her passing is regarded as a personal loss.
