She was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Fairfield, Wash., to Arther and Anna Grewe. She had one brother, Art (Helen) and a sister, Joyce. Vera took her nurse's training at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Wash. After Pearl Harbor, she served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. She then married Roy Pease in 1945, when he was liberated from the P.O.W. camp and returned to the U.S. They had four children and in 1962, the family moved to Las Vegas. Vera worked as a registered nurse at Sunrise Hospital for many years. Vera was the most loving, caring, patient and giving wife and mother. She is survived by her four children, Michael (Patsy), Sally (Marco), Beverly and Nancy (Rick); eight grandchildren, John, Johanna (Jeff), Sharon, Donna, Jim (Jennifer), Wendy (Bill), Patrick (Kim) and Nichole; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. Visitation will be at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, with services at 10 a.m., both at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern, Las Vegas. Burial will follow at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
