MARJORIE PETERSEN Marjorie Whipple Petersen, age 93, passed away peacefully, 
Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at her home in Logandale, surrounded by her 
daughters. She was born July 13, 1922, in St. George, Utah, to James Reuben and 
Fay Chadburn Whipple. She married Ray Kermit Petersen June 16, 1947, in the 
Logan Utah Temple. Marjorie lived most of her life in Moapa Valley. Her early 
years were spent on the Angel Ranch near St. Thomas and later moved to 
Logandale with her family. She earned her bachelor's degree from University 
Nevada-Reno during World War II. A real life "Rosie the Riveter," she worked 
for a time in the southern California shipyards as a welder in the war effort. 
Upon graduation, she taught school for over 32 years, first high school home 
economics and later as an elementary teacher. She enjoyed traveling, painting 
and sewing. She will be remembered for her grace, kindness and determination. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, death Dec. 22, 1978; two brothers; 
two sisters; and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by her four 
daughters, Cheryl (Roger) Lustberg of Los Angeles, Sandra (Dennis) Barrett of 
Logandale, Shauna (Jeff) Adams of Logandale, and Debra (Richard) Higbee of 
Alamo; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley 
(Glen) Hardy of Logandale. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at 
Moapa Valley Mortuary. Visitation again 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, with 
services following at 11 a.m. both at Burial following in the Logandale 
Cemetery. Arrangements made by Moapa Valley Mortuary, (702) 398-3600.
