PYNE DEAD ACTING LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF NEVADA DIES AT SANTA CRUZ Acting Lieut. Governor G. D. PYNE of Nevada died last Tuesday at Santa Cruz, Cal., after a lingering illness. He was state senator when Governor SPARKS died and the lieutenant governor became governor. George D. PYNE was born in Virginia City, NV [rest of this sentence unreadable}. He removed to Goldfield in the early days of that camp, where he engaged in the practice of law. He was elected to the senate of Nevada and served one term. It was Senator PYNE who framed the direct primary act of Nevada, passed at the last session of the legislature. Senator PYNE was a man of gentle and pleasing character and one who won universal respect. The funeral was held in San Francisco yesterday.
