Reno Evening Gazette June 29, 1885
A Pioneer 

Samuel Ripley died at Silver City last week.  Mr. Ripley was one of the early
settlers in this State.  He came to California early in the fifties and then
moved to Empire in this State, where he engaged for a number of years in the
merchandise business.  He leaves a wife and one daughter (Mrs. Trenmore Coffin
of Carson) and many friends to mourn his loss.
