He was preceded in death by his parents, Rolla Lee and Irene Shields; and his brother, James Shields. Lee was born June 6, 1937, in Bartlesville, Okla., on the grounds of a baseball park, the oldest of three brothers. Lee moved to Las Vegas when he was seven years old and lived in Sunrise Acres where he made a lifetime of friends. He went to the 5th Street School and was a 1955 graduate of Las Vegas High School. In June 1956, Lee married Bobbie Morris, and they had three children, DeeDee, Duane and Patrick. For three years (1961-1964) he was a reserve in the Nevada National Guard, serving as a senior track vehicle mechanic. Lee had many varied jobs, including Western Union and Glaser Brothers. In 1967, he found his calling when he joined the Clark County Fire Department. He served for 24 years and obtained the rank of engineer. While on the department, he became a brother to many. Strong lifetime bonds were formed. In 1988, he married Tree Linda Salyer and enjoyed 20 years of traveling and adventures. He started sand racing in 1997, and stepped up to asphalt racing, helping his son, Duane, on his race team "Shields Racing." His hobbies included working on and restoring old cars, drag racing, travel (not so much on airplanes) and Miller Lite. Lee is survived by his beloved wife, Tree Linda Shields; brother, Alan and Sandi Shields; daughter, DeeDee and Lou Gardella; sons, Duane and Betsy Shields and Patrick and Kelly Shields; his grandchildren, Brianna, Evan, Whitney, Adam, Sydney, Kennedy and Skylar; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Lee was a good husband, father and friend who will be sadly missed by all of us. Visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, with Vigil to follow at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, all at Christ the King Catholic Community Church, 4925 S.
