Clark County, Nevada Obituary for Bernard Street Las Vegas Age Contributed by Gerry Perry May 9, 2004 LAS VEGAS AGE 10/12/1918 BERNARD STREET KILLED BY ACCIDENTAL GUN SHOT Apparently killed by the accidental discharge of the gun with which he had been hunting rabbits, the body of Bernard STREET, principal of the Huntington Park schools, was found by a search party early yesterday morning, tangled in a barbed wire fence on the Laguna ranch, half a mile north of Baker avenue. The searching party was headed by O. W. LEONARD, who was called upon for assistance when Mr. STREET failed to return home after dark. The position of the body when found indicated that Mr. STREET had undertaken to step over a wire fence, had become entangled, and had been accidentally killed by a charge of shot which struck him in the breast. The remains were taken to the Huntington Park undertaking establishment where an autopsy will probably be held late today. Mr. STREET has been principal of the Huntington Park schools for two years. He was born in Minnesota thirty-five years ago, and leaves a widow and four children, as well as relatives in the Middle West. - Los Angeles Times. The untimely death of Prof. STREET brings grief to the people of Clark County. He was for two years previous to going to Huntington Park, principal of the Clark County High School and was deservedly popular. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the widow and orphans in this terrible affliction. ************************************************************************************* USGENWEB NOTICE All documents placed in the USGenWeb Archives remain the property of the contributors, who retain publication rights in accordance with US Copyright Laws and Regulations.
