SYPHUS DIES AT HOSPITAL Levi Wilford Syphus, pioneer resident of St. Thomas, the Moapa Valley community which was buried by the waters of Lake Mead, died on Saturday at a veterans hospital in Colorado, it was reported here today. Syphus was born in St. Thomas February 2, 1894, and resided in the area until the family was forced to move by the encroaching waters of the lake. He is survived by [omitted] Syphus, who had been in poor health for some time, served with the artillery in World war I. NOTE: Levi W. Syphus is interred at St. Thomas Memorial Cemetery, Overton, NV. The survey lists his birthdate as 2/24/1894.
