Their bodies were found in a badly mutilated condition and partly eaten by wild animals. The following telegram received by Sheriff Sam GAY contains about all the information obtainable up to the time of going to press: "St. Thomas, Nevada, January 30, 1919-TAYLOR and HANCOCK bodies found on the 29th. They were killed on the 13th. Bodies badly mutilated and eaten by wild animals. Looks like two men did the murdering. We did not touch the bodies. District attorney and posse better investigate. "Harry ARMITAGE left a boat with food and bedding at Boulder Canyon on the 24th. We found boat in an eddy two and a half miles below. Looks like it had been plundered and turned loose. Bodies of men are in a canyon about a mile from the river near the old Liston mine. We expect you to come with coroner at once. JNO. F. PERKINS." Mr. PERKINS and a party from St. Thomas have been searching for a number of days for the missing men. It appears that TAYLOR and HANCOCK left their camp on January 13th, taking with them only a lunch and a water bottle. They left one man in camp. When the two failed to return that night, the survivor made what search he could and several days later when the team came from St. Thomas to take them in the hunt {illegible}. District Attorney STEBENNE, Coroner LILLIS, Joe KEATE, Ray WEBER and N. F. HOOD left Las Vegas by auto at 1 p.m., Thursday and went to the scene of the crime. They have not yet returned. It is still the opinion of the officers that those on the posse hunting the murderer of Mrs. Maud DOUGLAS and the two prospectors, that the crimes were all committed by the same man and that man, Indian QUEHO. In support of this theory, the tracks from Nelson were followed through miles of rough country to a cave in the almost inaccessible mountains. There a 12 guage gun cartridge which appeared to have been recently discharged was found. The shot from this cartridge are believed to have killed Mrs. DOUGLAS. In the cave they also found an Indian basket and some other things used by Indians, including a "fire stick" used by Indians to make fire, with some cotton, etc. There are now in the possee hunting the murderer, Undersheriff Frank WALT, Deputy Sheriff I. W. ALCOCK, Joe MAY and three Indian trailers. Joe KEATE is working in the vicinity of where the bodies iof HANCOCK and TAYLOR were found under the direction of District Attorney STEBENNE. The recent rains with snow coming down to a low altitude in the mountains adds much to the difficulty of the man-hunt.
