THOMAS Mrs. Mary P. THOMAS, beloved wife of W. R. THOMAS, and mother of Ralph and Jamie THOMAS and Mrs. Marie ESPESET, died in Los Angeles Thursday evening, September 25, 1913, at 6:00. The sad news was wired to the relatives of this city, and the two sons left at ten o'clock the same evening for the south. Mr. THOMAS and Mrs. ESPESET were with Mr. THOMAS when she died. Mrs. THOMAS has been in poor health for several years, but has been falling more rapidly during recent months, so that her death was not unexpected. During the summer she has been at 1621 Husted street, Los Angeles, where she was at the time of her death. LAS VEGAS AGE 10/11/1913 IN MEMORIAM In the death of Mrs. Mary Peterson THOMAS, a kindly and gentle soul passed into the Great Beyond, leaving a void in the hearts of her earthly friends which time alone can heal. Quiet and unassuming, yet with a strength of purpose and high ideals which were a powerful influence for good upon all with whom she came in contact, the life of this good woman left its imprint upon us. Even in her passing days, weak and worn with suffering, she still warded off the call of the dark angel with a cheery smile and a hopeful word until the last strength was gone. Then, cheerfully, as one whose work was finished well, she took her place at the side of the pale boatman for the voyage across the dark river, leaving with us only kindly memories. Quiet and unobstrusive, her influence was great among her own people and close friends. About fifteen years ago she was hurt in a runaway accident, from which she never fully recovered. Mary Peterson THOMAS was born in Rochester, Minn., in 1859, where she spent her early years. There she married R. W. THOMAS, they soon removing to Watertown, S.D. With her family she came to the future Las Vegas in 1905, and has ever since been closely linked in friendship to many, especially those who were here in the early days of the town. Besides her husband, she leaves three children surviving her, Mrs. Marie ESPESET and Ralph W. and James C. THOMAS. She died in Los Angeles 25th and was buried in the beautiful Hollywood Cemetery Monday, September 20th.
