The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ************************************************************************ LAS VEGAS AGE 5/22/1915 DEATH ON DESERT FATE OF TRAVISS PROSPECTOR WANDERS FROM ROAD AND DIES OF EXHAUSTION NEAR SEARCHLIGHT John TRAVISS, a prospector, left Nipton, Cal., Monday morning with a horse for Mr. BLIESNER, of Searchlight. Tuesday the driver of an auto found stuff evidently belonging to a prospector's outfit scattered along the road. TRAVISS not having appeared, a searching party of about ten men was organized. They searched most of Tuesday and until 2 o'clock Wednesday when the body was found about seven miles from Searchlight. Coroner C. L. Aug MAHN was notified and an inquest held. J. F. MUSSELMAN, foreman, A. A. HOSKIN, J. A. MACREADY, Chas. HULTBERG, D. W. DUNN and Chas. GREY composed the jury. They brought in a verdict of death from exhaustion while in a delirium. The unfortunate man was a native of Connecticut, about 50 years old and single.
