Judge Lillis was notified and held a coroner's inquest. An examination of the body disclosed a strange and unusual case. The man had evidently sought out the secluded spot and carefully made plans to end his life. First, it appears, he removed from his clothing and effects everything which might lead to identification. The only possible clue to his identity remaining on the body was a handkerchief bearing in one corner the initials "R.E.L." He removed his clothing and effects from a suit case he had been carrying, placed his shirts in the bottom of the suitcase and saturated them with chloroform. Then he wrapped another shirt also saturated with chloroform about his face and laid down with his face in the suit case. Then he placed his cot over his head to keep in the deadly fumes and quietly passed out of this life. Coroner Lillis had the body removed to this city and the unknown was buried in the potter's field Thursday. The verdict of the coroner's jury was suicide. The coroner's jury was composed of Frank Waite, Frank Duncan and W. I. Roberts.
