CAPT. WAMELKIN DEAD

    We hear with regret that Capt. Nicholas WAMELKIN, a well known 
character of Eldorado Canyon for several years past, died in Los Angeles 
recently.  He had long been a sufferer from the white plague.
    He was in Las Vegas the middle of January and at that time was 
admitted to citizenship by Judge TABER.  It had long been a  hope 
expressed by the captain that he should live until he was a full fledged 
citizen of the United States, and it was doubtless a comfort to him in 
his last hours that his wish had come true.
