She was born May 1, 1917, in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Alvin Earl Goodspeed and Eugenia LaVon Peirce Goodspeed. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Curtis Wilson; her three children, Dr. Roger Wilson, Stephanie Wilson, and Steven Wilson of Las Vegas; four surviving grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Muriel, a great- granddaughter of Lorenzo Snow, late president of the Mormon Church, was an accomplished pianist, singer, dancer, ice skater, dramatist, beauty queen, and actress. She had the honor of holding the title of the first Miss Utah in 1938. She represented Utah in the 1938 Miss America Pageant and was runner up, winning the talent competition. She enjoyed a varied career in movies, light opera, recording and radio broadcasts. She appeared in the first Flash Gordon serial movies and was among the many Hollywood celebrities traveling on the World War II Bond Tours. She appeared in movies with Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy and was Jeanette's vocal backup and understudy. After her children were raised, she continued for many years teaching music to many piano students in Southern Calif. and produced and performed in many local musical shows well into her mid-eighties.
