She was 87. Wilson performed in the first Flash Gordon serial movies as the villainess Queen of the Sharks, according to her son, local radiologist Dr. Roger Wilson. The space opera that featured actor Larry "Buster" Crabbe was created in the 1930s. She was also a talented ice skater, performing in the Sonja Henie ice shows, her son said. A highly skilled dancer and singer, she was a backup to acress Jeanette Mac Donald in the 1940 musical "Bitter Sweet." Wilson showcased her skills and beauty, and by age 22 had won more than 100 beauty and talent contests, Roger Wilson said. She won the Miss Utah Pageant in 1938. Muriel Wilson, who spoke four languages, turned down Hollywood roles after marrying and starting a family. The longtime resident of Laguna Hills, Calif., later taught piano to high-schoolers. She moved to Las Vegas in summer 2004. She was a great-granddaughter of Lorenzo Snow, the late president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "She was very thoughtful of other people," her son said. "She has hundreds of piano students all over Southern California and kept in touch with many of them."
