Miss Chedic of Carson Passes Away After a Long and Severe Illness
Miss Emma Chedic, who has been ill for the past month, died last Wednesday
evening at 9 o'clock.  For ten years she has been a great sufferer from
ulceration of the stomach, but the trouble was aggravated by la grippe
contracted a few weeks since, and her system was too weak to rally from the
attack.  Ten years ago she was robust and ruddy cheeked, weighing at least 170
pounds, at the time of her death her form had wasted away until she would weight
scarcely 40 pounds.  During all these years she suffered intense agony, but no
word of complaint fell from her lips.  She was conscious to the last and begged
most piteously not to be allowed to die.  All that human skill could do had been
done for her, but death was inevitable.  Miss Emma was a most estimable young
lady and her death is greatly to be regretted.
